The logistics of offering a domiciliary service are often not financially or logistically viable for high street opticians.
We are therefore offering a solution which will keep your clients happy and loyal to your brand.
your patients will continue to receive the highest professional standard of eye care
Many elderly people who find themselves progressively more housebound still have a strong desire to remain in their own homes. Domiciliary services, such as regular eye care, can help to maximise a patient’s level of sight, which is key to maintaining their independence.
The key benefits would include the following:
Using the latest optical equipment, our optometrists perform eye examinations to the highest professional standards that you would expect in your practice.
With minimal disruption, the patient’s home can be easily transformed into a consulting room, allowing the visiting optometrist to perform a full and comprehensive eye examination. We can provide private or NHS services to customers in any environment, including their own homes, retirement housing and nursing homes.
We offer NHS services in the same way that other opticians do, including professional eye examinations covered by the NHS sight test fee for those patients over 60, or for those receiving Income Support.
In addition to this, we work closely with GPs and eye clinics across the country and where possible, we are accredited to provide direct referral schemes for cataracts and macular degeneration. Thorough eye health checks are carried out on all clients, screening for glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration, as well as checking for systematic disorders such as diabetes and blood pressure.
At the end of the eye examination, we issue the spectacle prescription. We carry a wide range of frames to cater for all tastes and offer patients a full range of different lens types and manufactures.
The Home Sight Partnership was founded by Community Care Opticians. Nearly 20 years ago, we were asked to visit an individual who was housebound and struggling to read their daily paper or watch television. This was having a enormous impact on their quality of life. Their confidence was being eroded, both in their ability to live independently and also their desire to socialise.
Updating their glasses significantly improved their quality of vision allowing them to watch TV and read in comfort. Their self-worth and confidence increased dramatically, completely changing their outlook on life.
This inspired us to specialise in offering a flexible and responsive home visiting Optical service. Our local optometrists working throughout the UK, continue to help housebound individuals with functional and on-going appropriate solutions, not only with glasses but also ensuring that our clients are fully aware of the opportunities that local eye clinic referral pathways and sight loss organisations can offer.
At the heart of the Home Sight Partnership training is ‘The Grandmother Test’; a policy whereby all staff are trained to treat every patient as if they were their own grandmother. From the service provided and the professionalism with which the examinations are carried out, to the right product being offered and the delivery of the glasses, each element is treated with this compassionate approach.
